Sojourn Gudorf Johnston

Sojourn Gudorf Johnston is from Craftsbury, VT. Ms. Johnston began her dance training at age 5 in Stowe, VT, and trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and hip-hop. At the age of 12, she moved to Boston to train under the direction of Alexandra Koltun and Alex Lapshin (Koltun Ballet Boston). Ms. Johnston competed at Youth America Grand Prix, winning 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place awards in classical ballet, top 12 in contemporary, competed in the final round at the YAGP European Finals (Paris), and competed in the New York City Finals in 2018.

 

During the summers. Ms. Johnston trained with American Ballet Theatre NYC, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Paris Opera Ballet, and trained on merit scholarships with Bolshoi Ballet NYC, Boston Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and Joffrey Musical Theater. She graduated from English National Ballet School’s three-year Trainee Program in 2021, receiving a Diploma in Professional Dance and an Associate of Professional Dance degree from Trinity College, London. 

 

Ms. Johnston has worked with renowned choreographers, including Ruth Brill, Lee Wei Chao, Noah Gelber, Kris De Jonghe, Jay Kim, Alex Lapshin, Andrew McNicol, Garen Scribner, Chung Lin Tseng, Didy Veldman, and Durante Verzola.

Ms. Johnston joined Ballet Frontier in 2022 as an apprentice and was promoted to company member in 2024. With Ballet Frontier, Ms. Johnston has performed lead roles in productions including Swanhilda in Coppelia, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, and Princess Helen in Chung Lin Tseng's Firebird. Other notable performances with Ballet Frontier include Carmen, Don Quixote (Lead Gypsy, Bridesmaid Soloist, Kitri's Friend), Endless by Lee Wei Chao, Giselle, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Paquita, Raymonda, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake (Pas de trois, Little Swans), and The Sleeping Beauty (Fairy and Jewel).

 

This is Ms. Johnston's fifth season with Ballet Frontier. Ms. Johnston is a faculty member at the Ballet Center of Fort Worth.
