My First Ballet
Ballet Frontier's newest outreach program, My First Ballet, brings world-class performances straight to the classroom. Ballet Frontier's professional dancers will travel to local schools and perform excerpts of the ballets the company is currently rehearsing; ballets like Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, or Swan Lake. These performances last approximately 20 minutes. After the performance, there will be a question and answer session with the professional dancers. Selected students will also have the opportunity to try a few ballet steps with the Ballet Frontier dancers.

Ballet Frontier’s first performance of the My First Ballet series took place in the spring of 2024 at Townley Elementary School. Ballet Frontier’s professional dancers danced excerpts of The Sleeping Beauty in three separate performances for unique sets of students. During these three performances, Ballet Frontier exposed over 300 students to live performing arts in one day. After each performance, students interacted with the dancers, asking questions and trying ballet steps. Witnessing the performances captivated the students, and many left with expressions of amazement and appreciation. For numerous attendees, this marked their first encounter with live ballet, highlighting Ballet Frontier’s goal of providing both education and impactful experiences to their community.
