David Keener brings a rich and varied background from his long career as a performance artist, teacher, choreographer and director.  David was trained by such luminaries as Kathleen Crofton, Petrus Bosman, David Howard, Ruth Petrinovic, and many others.  He has performed roles in choreography by George Balanchine, Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Jack Carter, Sir Anthony Tudor, Domy Reiter Sofer, Frederic Franklin, Ruth Page, Jack Carter, Hans Van Manen, to name a few.  David transitioned into teaching and choreography at the National Academy of Arts, an internationally recognized school of the arts in Illinois.  His previous affiliations as teacher or director include National Academy for the Arts, Virginia School of the Arts, Interlochen Center for the Arts, University of Utah, Illinois University, and Alabama School for the Arts.  As a teacher, he has contributed to the success of many students into professional careers.  Their current and former affiliations include American Ballet Theatre, The Royal Ballet, The Australian Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Boston Ballet, Bejart Ballet, Lines Ballet, Ballet de Barcelona, The Australian Ballet.  David’s choreography received the prestigious Cassandra Award for the best classical/contemporary choreography Dominican Republic for his production of Romeo y Julieta. His choreography has been presented in Italy, France, Puerto Rico and throughout the United States. David Keener is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT ®Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level Seven and Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum Member of the ABT Artistic Board of Examiners.
