Layla Terrell began dancing at age ten with Ballet Center of Fort Worth after competing as a high-level gymnast. She joined Ballet Frontier in 2014 as a Youth Company Trainee, while dancing with Ballet Frontier, Ms. Terrell has performed in many full-length ballets and performed lead roles such as Clara and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Hippolyta in Chung-lin Tseng’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pas de Trois and Big Swan in Swan Lake, and Diana in Diana and Actaeon. She received the bronze medal in the Star of Canaan Dance Competition in Hong Kong in 2015 and has received Top 12 in YAGP Dallas in both 2020 and 2021. Ms. Terrell has received several scholarships including the E. John Busser Ballet Scholarship, Dance Council of North Texas Scholarships, and multiple summer intensive scholarships from around the world. Ms. Terrell is a National Honors Society for Dance Arts inductee and received an Honorable Mention for the 2021 NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Award. Ms. Terrell is excited to continue her journey with Ballet Frontier for her eighth season as an apprentice.
